Working in
conjunction with the
engine’s full-flow oil
filter, the AMSOIL Ea
By-Pass Filter
operates by filtering
oil on a “partial-flow”
basis. It draws
approximately 10
percent of the oil
pump’s capacity at
any one time and
traps the extremely
small, wear-causing
contaminants that full-flow filters can’t remove. The AMSOIL Ea Bypass Filter typically
filters all the oil in the system several times an hour, so the engine continuously receives
analytically clean oil.

The point of engine oil is primarily to stop all the metal surfaces in your engine from
grinding together and tearing themselves apart from friction. Engine oil must also be able
to hold all the nasty by-products of combustion, such as silica (silicon oxide) and acids in
suspension. It cleans the engine of these chemicals and build-ups, and keeps the moving
parts coated in oil. Now if we could clean that oil to the point below wear fragment size (5
micron and lower) we could use that oil for many more miles and or years....

AMSOIL BYPASS SYSTEMS/FILTERS, are the low cost high quality system that cleans oil
down to 2 micron at 98.7% absolute efficiency. What does that mean? It means that we
catch 98.7% of the dirt, soot and contaminates at 2 micron and larger. We keep the
wear particles out of your engine and hold them in the filter to be discarded every 60,000
miles for the bypass filter, 25,000 miles for the full flow. Ok, now we have a general
understanding of the system lets look at some of the finer points.
AMSOIL Bypass systems come in several variations depending on the applications, as you
can see in the picture below but in general they all work the same.

destructive to nature. Quite
simply, we must select
innovative,
efficient products that will help
solve our pollution problems.
The introduction of AMSOIL
synthetic motor oil in 1972 set all
new standards for motor oil
quality. AMSOIL lubricants are
100% synthetic. They are
specially designed to protect
engine
components, reduce emissions,
last longer, reduce fuel
consumption
and prevent environmental
pollution. From the beginning,
AMSOIL synthetic motor oils
have outperformed
conventional petroleum motor
oils.
AMSOIL synthetic motor oils
resist chemical breakdown and
the formation of sludge, keeping
engines cleaner. They have
been specifically designed not to
oxidize, volatilize or shear
back, resulting in a motor oil that
lasts longer than conventional
petroleum motor oils. While
petroleum motor oil
manufacturers
recommend oil changes every
3,000 miles, AMSOIL
synthetic motor oils protect
engine components up to 35,000
miles (up to 50,000 in diesel
applications) or one year,
dramatically extending oil
change intervals.
Most automobile manufacturers
recommend oil drain intervals
of 3,000 to 7,500 miles for
petroleum motor oils. AMSOIL
recommends
up to a 35,000-mile oil change,
which is 5 to 11
times fewer oil changes. Just
think about the savings on the
environment
if, for example, the 243 million
cars (excluding trucks,buses and
taxis) in the United States were
equipped with
AMSOIL motor oil. Assuming an
average service life of 100,000
miles and an oil capacity of 5
quarts each, 16.2 billion to 40.5
billion quarts of used oil will be
generated during a regular
service lifetime (with regular oil
changes every 3,000 to 7,500
miles). If 40.5 billion quarts of
used oil were put into 55-gallon
barrels and lined up, the line
would stretch from Los Angeles
to Washington D.C. and back 12
times. Alternatively, if each of
those 243 million cars was
equipped with AMSOIL synthetic
motor oils and followed oil drain
intervals of up to 35,000
miles, as few as 3.5 billion quarts
of oil would be consumed in
the same period. That is a
reduction of up to 37 billion
quarts of oil, just by switching to
AMSOIL motor oils.

proven to increase fuel
economy by 2-5%. AMSOIL
lubricants reduce friction
and allow your engine to use its
heat-energy more
efficiently.
HOW MUCH IS 5%?
If a person averages more than
15,000 miles each
year, and spends an average of
$2.50 per gallon of gas,
a 5% savings would be $75 per
year (assuming an
average of 25 mpg).
AMSOIL offers by-pass components (sold separately) to ease the installation of the BMK21
By-Pass Filtration System in three popular diesel engines: the Ford 6.0L Power Stroke™, the
Dodge 5.9L Cummins and the General Motors 6.6L Duramax.
Engine compartments are becoming increasingly cramped, leaving little room for after-market
additions and improvements. The BMK21 is a single remote by-pass filter system that fits into
much smaller spaces than the AMSOIL Dual-Remote By-Pass System.
Ford 6.0L/6.4L Power Stroke™ Diesels
To ease installation of the BMK21 on 2003 and later model Ford pickups equipped with the
6.0L and 6.4L Power Stroke™ diesel engines, AMSOIL offers the new Aluminum Billet Oil
Filter Cap (BK1101), the Aluminum Billet Oil Fill Cap (BK1102) and the 90-degree JIC
Elbow (BP242, two recommended) (all sold separately). These new high-quality billet
aluminum caps replace the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) filter cap and oil fill cap.
The new caps have holes tapped in them that accept the JIC elbows for hose connectors.
Dodge 5.9L/6.7L Cummins Diesels
To ease installation of the BMK21 in later model Dodge pickups equipped with the 5.9L and
6.7L Cummins diesel engine, AMSOIL offers the 1/8" NPT - 1/4" JIC fitting (BP241), the
Aluminum Billet Oil Fill Cap for Dodge 5.9L Cummins diesels (BK1301), for 6.7L Cummins
engines use (BK1302), and the 90-degree JIC Elbow (BP242) (all sold separately). The BP241
fits onto the existing plug on top of the OEM full-flow filter mount, and the addition of the
BK1301 eases the installation of the oil return line.
General Motors 6.6L Duramax Diesels
To provide GM Duramax owners the same ease of installing the BMK21, AMSOIL is now
offering an oil filter “Sandwich” adapter (BK1201).
The Sandwich adapter is an anodized billet aluminum adapter that screws on to the present full
flow oil filter nipple located on the engine block. The full flow filter is then simply spun on to
the adapter. The Sandwich adapter has an orifice to provide high-pressure oil feed for the
BMK21. Like the other diesel applications, AMSOIL now offers an Aluminum Billet Oil Filler
Cap for (BK1202) to ease the installation of the oil flow from the BMK11 back to the engine.
To complete an installation, the following components must be purchased separately:
1. Aluminum oil filter Sandwich Adapter with o-ring (BK1201)
2. Aluminum Billet Oil Filler Cap for GM Duramax (BK1202)
3. Two 90 degree JIC Elbows (BP242)
4. Single Remote By-pass system (BMK21)
5. By-pass filter (EaBP90, EaBP100, or EaBP110, as space dictates) (all sold
separately)

Soot Removal
AMSOIL has designed a high-
efficiency by-pass filter element
that is also a soot removal
device. AMSOIL Ea By-Pass
Filters use a synthetic/cellulose
sandwiched media. The inner
layer of the element is
composed of a highly efficient
cellulose media covered with a
full synthetic media outer layer.
These filters remove 39 percent
of soot contaminants less than
one micron. Soot removal
efficiency increases
approximately 10 to 14 percent
when the EaBP Filter is used in
conjunction with a standard full-
flow filter.

(orange) is the full flow filter that is on
your vehicle. The filter on the right is a
AMSOIL bypass filter.
