To keep it loo  king and working like new use AMSOIL CETANE and DIESEL CONCENTRATE Full Time AMSOIL Dealer Diesel Fuel Dilution on Ford, Dodge and GM 3/4 ton & 1 Ton In recent history diesel trucks (2500 -3500) have been under heavy scrutiny for a fuel dilution problem that came in to view when the EPA standard was risen. In short current technology for regeneration for the DPFE filter is to spray diesel fuel on the exhaust stroke of the engine, sending unburnt fuel to the DPFE via the exhaust system. Problems, oh yeah, fuel is getting by the rings and ending up in the crank case diluting the engine oil causing a severe change in viscosity, thats problem one. Problem two is that during the spraying on the exhaust stroke the cylinders are getting washed down removing the sacrificial barrier that the oil provides, now you have metal to metal contact causing wear. Whats the fix to this, well for those already built, not much any one can do. No filter will remove fuel from the oil. It comes down to a couple of things the quality of the oil your using and the way your truck is operated. There are case studies that a Ford 6.4L with 3800 miles on it had 10% fuel dilution, that is awful, the oil is critically out of spec for viscosity. Independent lab tests have shown the Shell Rotella T falls out of spec with just 2% fuel dilution and Mobil, Chevron Delo & Valvoline fall out of spec at 4%. The only solution is to dump your oil and replace it, costing you more money. I wish I could tell you that AMSOIL DEO (5w40) or DME (15w40) can solve the problem but thats not the case, what it does do is stays in grade where the others fail. So AMSOIL will continue to protect your expensive diesel engine even with 4% fuel dilution but you do have to change it at the OEM recommended interval. AMSOIL is not content to just offer engine protection without an extended drain interval, AMSOIL continues to test and tweak the formulas to offer its customer nothing but the finest lubricant products. In the future we can only hope that the OEM's will follow the class eight trucks lead and place an injector in the exhaust system, eliminating the need to spray the cylinder walls with diesel fuel.
